illness. Herb was born December 15, 1936 to the late Charles H. and Ozella (White) Keith in Mexico, MO.
Mr. Keith attended the University of Missouri and Northeast Missouri State College.
He served in the US Army- Army Reserve and Army National Guard with an Honorable
discharge in 1961. He was Vice President of V. J. Mattson Company, Chicago, IL,
and was a refractory and aluminum furnace contractor for many years prior to retiring
in 2001.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Georgia Franklin of Mexico, Mo.;
a son, Todd Douglas Keith (Kimberly Day) of Munster, IN, and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ozella Keith of Mexico, Mo.;
a daughter, Susan Leigh Keith, and siblings, Delores Piper (J.D. Piper), Calvin Keith
(Shirley Jean) of Mexico, Mo., and John Keith of California.
His family was his greatest joy and before his illness, he enjoyed traveling for business
and pleasure; staying in touch with his friends, Chicago Cubs, news, and especially
vegetable gardening and growing huge tomatoes. Herb will be greatly missed by all
who knew and loved him.
He will be laid to rest in the Veterans Columbarium – Northwest, in Chapel Lawn
Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, Indiana.
