Herbert Ooms, age 90, of Highland, passed away May 2, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Estelle (nee Schoon); two sons: Bob (Faye) Ooms of Hammond and Tom (Debbie) Ooms of St. John; two daughters: Bev (Cal) Knol of Kansas and Joyce (Dan) Kraly of Highland; 14 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine McGrail of Lansing. Preceded in death by daughter-in- law, Patricia Ooms; and grandson, Robbie Ooms. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at New Life Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Bill Sytsma officiating. Burial Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family Sunday from 2:00- 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN. Mr. Ooms was a member of the New Life Christian Reformed Church. He was retired from Voortman Cookies, and a veteran of the U.S. Army - WWII.
