James E. Blackwell Sr.

JAMES E. BLACKWELL, SR. GARY, IN James E. Blackwell, Sr., age 82, of Gary, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Willie R. Blackwell; two children: Mary Lou (Kevin) Mulder of Hudsonville, MI and James E. (Laura) Blackwell Jr. of Hammond, IN; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Blackwell was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Lucinda; son, John Scott Blackwell; and four siblings. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Rev. Bufferd Wireman officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Blackwell was a member of Christian Faith Lighthouse of Griffith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from NIPSCO with 33 years of service. James was a devout husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
