
James A. "Uncle Jim" Novak, age 63, of Munster, passed away January 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Ron Cook of St. John; daughter, Lisa Cook of St. John; two special grandchildren: Makena and Mason; three sisters: Arlene Bujwit Novak of Calumet Township; Gloria Novak of Illinois, and Cynthia Niezgoda Novak of Schererville; special friends: Darline Pederson and Tim Pearson; two godchildren: Tiffany Auksel and Brian Novak; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Eva Novak; two brothers: John A. Novak and Robert M. Novak; two sisters: JoAnn Novak and Debra Novak. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN with Rev. Stephen D. Kosinski, officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home. American Legion Post 369 will hold services at 4:30 PM Wednesday afternoon. James was a retired carpenter with Local 599. He was also a former member of the Operating Engineers Local #7. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 369 in East Chicago. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and a proud member of the Novak Bass Team.
