Janice E. Holmgren Hanzivasilis

Janice E. Hanzivasilis (nee Holmgren), age 77, of Highland, IN passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Stephan; two children: Kellie (Richard) Veracco and Dean (Natalia) Hanzivasilis; two grandchildren: John Veracco and Kepler Hanzivasilis; one sister, Joyce (Tom) Weakland; one brother-in-law, Nick (Rosemary) Hanzivasilis; one sister-in-law, Anna (George) Dearborn; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville, IN with Fr. George Pappas officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. (Trisagion service 5:00 p.m.) at Kuiper Funeral Home, Highland, IN. Mrs. Hanzivasilis was a member of the St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville. She was a retired teacher from the Lake Ridge School System with 41 years of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janice’s loving memory to the American Cancer Society.
