JOAN MARIE SANDS CROWN POINT, IN Joan Marie Sands (nee Hopkins) age 67, of Crown Point, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011. She is survived by three daughters: Pam McIntosh, Tammy (Bob) Hughes, and Jennifer (Mike) Staggs; three grandchildren: Tiffany and Noah Hughes, and Madison Staggs; one brother, J.R. Hopkins; two sisters: Tinie Ayers and Margaret Schwartz; one sister-in-law, Robin (Greg) Rucinski; one nephew, Greg Rucinski; and two nieces: Cari Zimmerman and Lindsay Zimmerman. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Interment will be private. Mrs. Sands was retired from Strack & Van Til's in Merrillville with 10 years of service. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
