My heartfelt condolences to Mary's family and friends. Mary was one of the kindest people I would ever know.  Her singing voice was absolutely beautiful . I can her her now, singing with the choir of Angel's.  May she rest in peace.  

I met Mary when Jeff moved to Florida.  I was still playing at Moody, so I showed up late that first Easter.  Mary said it was OK.  I loved the music, so I stuck around for each Easter, Christmas, and first communion.  I converted to Catholic via the Archbishop's second year at St. Joseph's.  When they changed priests, most of us followed Mary to Indiana. From my perspective, Mary had a joyful side, which thrived on musical action.  That's the only side I ever saw.

Sandy, I was saddened to hear of Mary’s death. Hard to believe. She was so talented, kind, modest, funny, and smart. I’ll never forget when we were wondering who could possibly sing the part of Amahl. She quietly said, “my brother”. And then she helped you learn all those songs.  May the Lord Bless You and Keep you and give you peace.

Mary used her talents to enhance the liturgies at ICSJ. The choir and music ministry shone, especially on Holy Saturday. It wasn't about Mary, it was praise to the Lord.
She was a very nice person, too.

Mary was a sweet soul, who brought joy and comfort to those who knew her. I loved getting to know her  during my time as a choir member at OLPH. My prayer is for her soul to be at peace with our savior & that her family and friends find comfort in that blessing. 

Mary’s  talents touched many lives. Her music and voice would bring you closer to God during worship because she loved  the God she worshiped.
She was a woman of faith and was very approachable, and would truly listen when you talk to her.
Being a nurse practitioner she was very caring too. If you were sick she  wanted to know what the doctor said or what medications  you were taking.  
She was always available and  never too busy for you if you had any concerns.

She was a gift from God to those who knew her and will definitely be missed.

Cousin Mary and I had some great times full of music and fun. It was wonderful visiting with her at the Gorney Family Reunion in 2013--hard to believe it was so long ago and that we haven’t gotten together lately, thinking that there would be time. 
Dave and I visited Chicago in 2010 and Mary came to pick us up and gave us a wintry tour of The Region which included a Walleye dinner! We shall miss her.

I knew Mary in high school. As everyone has said, she was a wonderful musician and a kind, hard working nurse. My condolences to all who loved her. I’m sure she’s resting in heaven and playing her wonderful music for the Lord. 

My sweet East US Charismatic cousin and sister in Christ, I will always remember our prayers for our family from East to West and the times we got to share together. You held the legacy of Chicagoland family history and shared that with me so generously when I visited. I will miss my cousin and sister in the Lord. I know you are singing and performing every instrument you know in the heavenly choir and are living in glory forever! All my love, till we meet again.

Our Dear Mary Geralyn, I am so saddened of your passing but knowing you are a Saint in our eyes now. Dear cousin, close like sister, I have so many wonderful memories but the last is our tour around our hometown, the family reunion, the laughter my sisters & I had with you. I am so saddened and shocked to read of Mary’s unexpected death.  She was one of the nicest people I ever had the privilege to meet.  I loved her personality, sense of humor and, of course, her amazing musical talent.  She was “just Mary” when I spoke with her a month ago and I loved her for her genuine and down to earth manner.  Mary, I was so blessed to have you as a friend.

When I first met Mary Geralyn in 1975, she was a teenager holding a guitar case.  The music stayed with her, to the benefit of all.

Mary was a beautiful person.  I remember her musical talent and her wonderful sense of humor.  I was very sad to hear of Mary's passing.  My prayers are with Mary's family that they find comfort in this time of great loss.

I met Mary Jameyfield initially from our parish of Immaculate Conception in Old Town, Chicago in the 1980s.  Under Mary's Musical direction, I sang in the choir there and also the Charismatic Renewal Conferences she directed as well.  

Besides being a wonderful woman of Christ, inspirational Music Director & Composer... Mary, herself, also had the most beautiful warm vocals.  She was also the only person who could woo my non-Catholic husband to play bass guitar at IC.    Mary performed for our wedding in 1990 and helped enlist the best vocalists & musicians, which blessed our ceremony immensely.    

It's hard to believe her music was not her entire life as nursing, I'm sure, gifted many patients at all the facilities she worked.

Although my move to the suburbs gave distance to rarely seeing each other... I had often thought I would want Mary involved in my own ceremony of life.   We truly know not our hour, but I do believe Mary found God's purpose for her in the life and she gave generously.   We would all agree that she fell into the loving arms of Christ to hear "Well, done good and faithful daughter"!

My most sincere condolences to Mary's family and friends.  I was so saddened to learn of her passing. Mary and I were high school friends who lost touch. We unexpectedly ran into one another twice in the Fall of 2019.  We picked up right where we left off, telling stories and laughing.  We exchanged phone numbers, but as is so often, didn't connect again.  At our reunion, we realized we knew many of the same people. In high school, Mary and I sat next to one another in band and had several music classes together. She was one of the most brilliant and talented people I've ever known,  in addition to being so faith-filled. Rest well, my friend and pray for us.  Until we meet again.


Mary was a unique person and a tremendous talent. Her musical abilities brought so many people, myself included, to a greater love of Christ and deeper life in the spirit. I especially remember how uplifting her choir concerts and special Christmas Eve programs were. She had a distinctive gift of being able to communicate God's love through music. 

I don't know if Mary ever fully understood how gifted she was and how loved. It is a comfort to know she found stability and deep communion with Pat in her later years. My heart goes out to Pat in her grief and to all Mary's choir members, friends and all who were touched by her music. IC-St. Joseph was fortunate to have her presence for so many years, as well as her parish in Hammond.

 May her heart be at rest now in the love of Christ. May her voice be added to the choir of angels.

I remember my cousin, Mary Geralyn, who I last saw a few years ago after a long time. I wish we had lived closer in miles. We talked for a couple of hours and I was struck by her strong character and her love of music. She was a inspirational presence in our family who will be missed by us all.
