Myrna Loy Wilson

Myrna was born on August 29, 1935, in Hammond, IN, to the late Charles and Lorene Askins. She dedicated her life to her family and her faith. On February 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Rex M. Wilson, and shared 37 beautiful years with him until his passing.

A god-fearing woman, Myrna loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed going to church. Her passion was Southern Gospel music, which brought her great comfort and joy. She most enjoyed being with family and reminiscing about the simpler times. She was such a caring and loving person, who was known as "Granny" to everyone she met. She will be missed by many, but is now happily reunited with the love of her life, Rex.

She is survived by her three children, Terry (Kendall) Wilson, Charles (Sharon) Wilson, and Yolonda Pierce (Jerry Sawa). Her memory is cherished by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, making Myrna’s legacy five generations strong. She is also survived by her brother, Ray Askins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rex; her parents, Charles and Lorene Askins; and her brother, Charles Askins.

A visitation for Myrna will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral Services will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Graveside Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Myrna’s name to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation. Gifts can be mailed to the foundation at 225 East Chicago Avenue, Box 4, Chicago, IL 60611.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Crown Point Health Campus and Traditions Hospice for easing Myrna’s transition and making it pain free.
