Norman R. Schoon, age 90, of Dyer, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Martha (nee Jenkins); son, Tom (Jan) Schoon of Griffith; daughter, Gwendolyn (Michael) Klein of Michigan; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, John (Marlene) Schoon of Munster; sister, Lois Schoon of Munster; and brother-in-law, Norb Adams of Highland. He was preceded in death by sister, Ellen Adams. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Faith Church (100 W. 81st, Dyer) with Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating. Friends may meet with the family at church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Norman will be laid to rest at Schoon Cemetery. Norman was a member of Faith Church of Dyer and was a retired truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a P.O.W. in World War II. Norman was a member of the VFW Post in Munster.
