Robert Ware Sr.

Robert was born April 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John Owens and Alberta Flenoy. He was raised by his grandmother Ida Evans. Later his family moved to Gary, IN at the age of 9.

He attended Gary Public School Systems and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. Mr. Ware joined the United State Marine Corps and reached the rank of Lance Corporal. He was employed by US Steel , and a member of local union #1014, retiring after 35 years of faithful service. Robert was also a member of New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, father, first wife Delores Porter Ware, daughter Robin Ware, sons Maverick Trent Ware and Martin Ware, brother Ike Blount, sister Hattie Mae Williams, grandson Yolondo D. Ware, and brothers-in-law and partners in crime, Owen Allen Jr. and Thomas Williams Sr.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Joycelyn Ware, children, Clyde (Misty) Jordan, Everett (Ida) Ware, Donald (Tiffany) Evans, Robert Ware Jr, all of Indiana, and Jacintha Ware, Semone Ware, LaVera (Kenneth) Britt, and Merlyn (Casey) Ware all of Minnesota. Also surviving are his siblings Charlie Barbie of MS, Arlene Ellis of TN,Frank Flenoy of TN, and John Flenoy of IN, two foster daughters, Latrice Triplett and Latanya Burr, two God-daughters Tujuana Taylor and LaCheryl Durr. 37 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Along with his sis-in-laws Shelia (Norman) Malone of IN, Vivian (Anthony) Jones of IL, Lori (Morris) Kingfrom VA, Sharon (Ernest) Lane of IN, and Amelia (Edmond) Chisholm, Darlene (Barry) Blair, and Cynthia (Corey) Dabney of IL.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at New Mount Moriah Church (1901 Carolina Street; Gary, IN 46407) with Pastor W.N. Reed officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at Kuiper Funeral Home (9030 Kleinman Ave; Highland IN 46322). Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
