Sara "Sally" Ann O'Brien

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene O'Brien. They were married for over fifty years. Sara is survived by her four children, Elizabeth (Mike) Kiewicz, Sharon O'Brien, Mark (Sandy) O'Brien, and Steven (Aura) O'Brien; grandchildren, John Coghlan, Ann Barry, James Kiewicz, David Parks, Michelle Parks, Laura Parks, Paul O'Brien, and Erica O'Brien; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog and constant companion, Patches. Sara was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen de la Torre.

Sara was a lifelong educator, specializing in special education. She retired from Elmwood Park Elementary after 35 years of teaching. Sara was an avid reader, and diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Through her actions and words, she inspired many.

Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1 West Wilhelm Street, Schererville, IN 46375.
