Sharion was born on December 6, 1942, to Orison and Garnette Hatfield in McAndrews, KY. She was recruited by Marathon Oil and moved to Ohio to take her place as their first female accountant. She sat for her Certified Public Accountant exam in 1979 in Indianapolis, passing all 4 tests on her first try, a feat only 1 in 5 accomplish. Her career spanned 57 years and included working for big businesses, small businesses, accounting firms, self-employment, and contract work.
Sharion has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority almost 50 years and lent her talents to other organizations, such as the Highland Historical Society and Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a long-time member of Redeemer’s choir and the Altar Guild, where she was able to share her love of music and flowers with others. She enthusiastically pursued a variety of arts and encouraged others to do the same.
Sharion was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Marks; her son, Eric Marks; and her brother, Doug Hatfield. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Biela; two grandchildren, Sara Biela (married to Benjamin Oldham) and Anna Biela; her sister, Judy Rawdon; her niece, Alison Rawdon; and nephews, Doug Hatfield, Jr. and Jon Hatfield.
She would want to be remembered for the joy and laughter she brought to others.
