Born on February 19, 1930, in Hammond, Indiana, Shirley was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruth (née Peters) Crowe. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Branson; five of her children; Michael Branson, Deborah Zaridich, Randall Branson, Judith Covault, and Douglas Branson; and several siblings.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Carla Branson, Laura McCormack, and Gregory(Sue) Branson; her sister Barbara Mathews; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by her kindness and care.
Shirley worked for a time as a cashier at Ultra Grocery, but her life was most fully lived in the home she built for her family. As a mother of eight, she poured her heart into raising her children and caring for those around her. A devout Catholic, she was active in her parish and contributed in many quiet but meaningful ways. Shirley also enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, and crocheting, especially creating baby afghans in support of Right to Life.
Her greatest joy and life’s true legacy were found in the love she gave to her family.
