

Ada “Mac” Gilliam, age 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 6, 2016. Mac was born in Geraldine, Alabama on January 6, 1934. She graduated from Geraldine High School in 1952 and married to Larry Gilliam for the past 20 years.
Mac spent her career helping others as the Director of Patient Services at Parkridge Hospital for many years. During this
time she was named social worker of the year and was past president of the Southeast Area Council as well as a member of the Tennessee Society of Health Care Social Workers. She completed her career by working as Director of Superior Home Health Care. Mac was well respected and well loved for her kind, compassionate personality and her desire to always be of help to anyone she met. She always had a warm smile on her face and seemed to run into someone she knew, no matter what part of the world she was in. She and Larry have spent the past several years enjoying being “snow birds” in Florida during the winter months and coming home to Chattanooga during the summer.
She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Birdie Jones from Geraldine, Alabama.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Gilliam; brother Wayne and wife Bobbie Jones; sister Brenda and husband Butch
Fairchild; daughter Cindy and husband Barney Kyte; daughter Pam Turner; son Chuck and wife Sharon Hood; 8
grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Sandi Shadwick and the staff at Hospice of Chattanooga for their support and compassion during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3:00in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Christy Bonner officiating.
Thefamily will receive friends from 1:00 3:00 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 5401 Hwy 153 followed by graveside service.
