Anna Ruth Ivester Steele, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009.She was born in Dayton, Tennessee and was a long time resident of Chattanooga. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, East Ridge American Legion, and was Past Secretary-Treasurer of the Chattanooga Women’s Democratic Club.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Steele, Sr.; parents, Jack A. Ivester and Sophia Helton Ivester; two sons, Millard E. Phillips, Jr. and Robert K. Ivester, several brothers and one sister.Anna is survived by two daughters, Phyllis P. Shields, Lynda Steele Vincent, one son, David L. (Clara) Steele, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and two brothers, James Ivester and Fred (Beverly) Ivester.The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 P.M. Sunday, Dec. 13 at the North Chapel.Services for Anna will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday at the North Chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O.
