Barry was born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Earl Hamilton and Betty Smith Day. He was a 1977 graduate of the Occupational Training Center. He was self employed and could do just about anything. He loved to fish and would often make his own fishing lures. Barry enjoyed being on his CB Radio where he was known as “Shag”, making model airplanes and then flying them and enjoyed crafts and painting. Barry helped stuff envelopes at the Community Baptist Church for the missionaries.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Cindy A. Hamilton; step-dad, John L. Day and two sisters, Darla Olvey and Debbie Hamilton.
Barry is survived by his brother, Brett (Barbara) Hamilton; nieces and nephews, Tami (Bill) Friar, Larissa Hamilton, John (Vanessa) Olvey, Joey Daniel and Brettney (Anthony) Williams; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, January 5, and 2 to 3 pm on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Barry’s life will follow at 3 pm on Monday at the North Chapel with Pastor Marc Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
