She was born in Elizabeth City, NC to Hal and Ann Stephens and grew up in Knoxville, TN.
Brenda attended Carson-Newman University and Texas Woman's University earning a Master’s degree in Library Science. She was a librarian at the Chattanooga Public Library for many years.
Brenda was a devoted member of Hixson First Baptist Church. She enjoyed fellowship and singing in the choir at church, was an avid reader, and cherished grandmother.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Edmondson, and her parents, Hal and Ann Stephens.
She is survived by sons, Keith Edmondson (wife Anna), Blake Edmondson (wife Kate), her brother Ronald Stephens (wife Lynn), and grandchildren, Oliver, Lily and Vivian.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Monday, January 12th at 12:00 pm with Dr. Steven Granger officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
