David was the 1955 Valedictorian for Butler High School in New York. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned a PhD from Georgia State. He was a professional engineer and was a college professor.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Lewis; sons, John B Lewis, Daniel H Lewis and Ian Lewis; grandchildren, Sarah Lewis and Mason Lewis.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
