Dennis Sanford Richardson, 67, passed away Monday, September 30 at a local hospital. Born in Florence, Alabama, he was a long-time resident of Chattanooga. Dennis served our Country in the U.S. Army; he was a paratrooper and a rifle sharpshooter.
Dennis was a Nuclear Plant Operator and Supervisor with TVA. He was a long-time member of North Hamilton Church of Christ and also the Highland Sportsmen’s Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and also to cook. He loved his wife, Alice, with whom he often camped, loved his family and delighted to spend time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Esther Lee James Richardson; brothers, R.L. Richardson of Hattiesburg, Mississipi and James Richardson of Killen, Alabama; sisters, Patsy Richardson Shumaker and Virginia Richardson, of Florence, Alabama.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Behel Richardson; sons, Doug and Terry (Melissa) Richardson; grandchildren, Douglas and Lyla Richardson; brother, Dorris Richardson and sisters, Eloise Wright and Helen Jones; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday at the North Chapel; funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at North Chapel Chapel with Minister David B. Smith officiating; entombment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
