

Donna Pearce Scorey, D.V.M., 60, of Hixson, TN, passed into heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 14, 2011. She fought a courageous 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. Donna was born in 1951 in La Grange, GA. Raised in Rainbow City, AL, she attended Auburn University where she met her husband, George W Scorey, and received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1976. George and Donna were married in 1976 and raised their family for the last 35 years.
Donna had an extraordinary heart and felt love and compassion for all animals, especially her beloved horses and pets. Donna was truly a beautiful angel on this earth to all that ever met her or knew her. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, TN. She is preceded in death by her beloved father, James J. (Sam ) Pearce of Rainbow City, AL; grandparents Isaac and Katherine Pearce of La Grange, GA, and Dr. George B. and Addie Lee Head of Hogansville, GA.
Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, George W. Scorey, D.V.M. and loving sons Bill (Mindi) Scorey and Stephen Scorey, her mother, Frankie L. Pearce, all of Chattanooga, TN.; brother Charles Judson (Sandy) Pearce and nephews Jamie (Leslie) Pearce of Rainbow City, AL. and Dr. David (Lisa) Pearce of Helena, AL.; brother-in-law Steve (Cher) Scorey of Birmingham, AL. and mother-in-law Marjorie L. Scorey of Pelham, AL., multitudes of close friends, most especially Chris Hudson of Signal Mountain, TN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Ben Haden and Chris Ehlers officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, September 16, 2011 from 1-3 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Don Chamberlain and his wonderful staff, Dr. Richard Moore, Dr. Mike Greer and the wonderful doctors and nurses of Hospice of Chattanooga for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Donna during her illness.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Big Oak Ranch, P.O. Box 507, Springville, Al., 35146 or the U.A.B. Comprehensive Cancer Center, designated for ovarian cancer research at 1530 3rd Ave. South, Room NP 2501, Birmingham, Al, 35294.
