Uncle Ed was my favorite on Dad's side of the family, he was always kind to everyone. His laugh was unforgettable. He and Dad looked more like twins than Uncle Earl and Uncle Ed. Love to Aunt Winnie

To my dad, Joe, Ed was always a good friend and source of support. To my mother, Ruth, he was her anchor through both good and tough times. We are saddened that he is gone.

It is was great sadness for my mother Sheryl Ann Wheeler Durham 
to lose a amazing father.  Unfortunately  due to health reasons .  She 
is unable to travel .  Through out mine and my  siblings  childhood   
Sheryl would  share with us many stories about her father.  
 How he taught her to play basketball, how to  ride her pony .  To laugh and and enjoy life and to work hard.  
             As a grandfather ( Paw)  was his name to me and my sister and brother.  We  loved  Saturday  visits , paw would take us to the park to feed the ducks.  He had  a laugh that made you laugh and always 
had a joke that you may not get . But his laugh made you laugh.

I am so profoundly sad to hear of Ed's passing.  I loved him, Winnie, Jeff and Sisi.  For my entire childhood it was always with them at celebrations, birthdays, vacations, holidays  and playing with Sisi on my swing  and going horseback riding with her.  They all were always a part of my life in some form or another.  My heart breaks for their loss as I know how it feels to loose a father.  I have so many wonderful memories with you all and will never forget them.  God bless you all and my heartfelt prayers and love are with you all always.

Uncle Ed and Winifred are my favorite uncle and aunt always. I bonded with them by about 4-5 years of age before we left moved to Jacksonville, Fl.  Every time we came back to Chattanooga for a visit my father Al would say "I am going to see Ed do you want to go and every time I would say yes."  We did not always talk to each other that much, but I just liked being around him.  He had qualities that I wish my father could have had.  I am sorry we were so far away, but unlike most of the relatives in Chattanooga on both sides Uncle Ed and Aunt Winifred came to Jacksonville every year or so for a visit, approximately 475 miles.  When our son Jonathan died on August 16, 1990 they came to his funeral and I believe it was for Jonathan and us.  I missed Aunt Winifred and Uncle Ed all the time, but what can you do, just feel a loss.  I last saw both of them in February 2017 for 2 or 3 days and they were both in pretty good shape and along with my sister Sandy that I brought, we had a good visit. Since them I have talked to them every few months, but the last several months I tried, but did not connect with them.  Uncle Ed was a Christian man and I know where he is right now. Goodbye Uncle Ed I will miss you the rest of my life and I can hear your voice right now and your laugh and see you smiling. That is how I will remember my Uncle Ed. Everyone prey extra hard for Aunt Winifred and Jeff they will take this loss very hard.  Nephew Doug Wheeler
