He was born in Soddy Daisy, on April 26, 1950 to the late Howard and Beatrice Penney. Ernest was a longtime employee with Central Soya and Moccasin Bend. He was a member of the Red Bank Masonic Lodge # 717 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Clinton and Joe Penney, Agnes Penney and Lou Smith; special nephew, Duke Penney.
Ernest is survived by his siblings, Jerry Penney, Judy Walker and Pat Wilkey; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 pm on Sunday and 1 to 2 pm on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at 2 pm on Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Brother Wilburn Reno officiating.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
