Gregory Wayne O'Quinn

13 August, 1961 – 31 July, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-North Chapel and Hamilton Memorial Gardens

Gregory (Greg) Wayne O’Quinn passed away in the arms of his loving wife of 32 years, on July 31, 2023, at their home in Brandon, Mississippi.

Greg was born and grew up in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he joined the Fraternal Brotherhood of Sigma Chi. After graduation, Greg led a successful career in the poultry industry holding positions of increasing responsibility and leadership in accounting and finance. Companies he served included ConAgra, Seaboard Farms of Chattanooga, and Choctaw Maid Farms in Mississippi.

Greg achieved much success in his career, but the accomplishments of those he mentored brought him the most joy. He was always happy when a member of his team was offered a promotion to a leadership position, whether at his company or another. He valued those relationships throughout his life.

Greg retired in 2017, from DG Foods, LLC, the company he and two partners formed in 2004. They started the company with one customer and 40 employees and with Greg’s financial leadership as CFO, grew it to two locations with multiple customers and over 500 employees. When he retired in 2017, he left the company in solid financial condition. Greg is the G in DG and will be missed by the DG Foods family.

Greg was known for his honesty, quick humor, leadership, and business acumen. Those he loved knew his kind and generous heart. Charming and confident, he was knowledgeable on many subjects and a great storyteller. He loved his family, the beach, animals and being home. He followed NASCAR and was intrigued by the engineering precision. A prudent man, he nonetheless enjoyed spoiling his wife and friends and traveling in comfort and luxury.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Jean O’Quinn.

Greg will be deeply missed by his wife, Jennifer Leigh Sullivan O’Quinn (Jenni), his father, James O’Quinn, brother, Mike O’Quinn, nieces Brittany O’Quinn Hicks and Brooke O’Quinn Mitchell, heart sister Susan Iles, and numerous uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, the DG Foods family, and Sigma Chi brothers.

Donations in memory of Greg may be made to The University of Mississippi Medical Center, Department of Oncology https://umc.edu/Office_of_Development/Ways-to-Give/Funds/Fund-Centers_and_Institutes.html

The family especially recognizes and thanks Dr. Eswara K. Mundra for his kindness and excellent care
