He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and served our country in the United States Navy on the USS Holland during World War II. Herb retired from DuPont Corporation and was a longtime member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Peggie Stephens; parents, Joe and Ethel Hartman Stephens; two brothers and a sister.
Herb is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte & Richard Fisher of Dayton, Tennessee, Jane & Jay Hicks, Jean & David Hicks all of Ooltewah, Amy & Randy Reno of Canton, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5401 Highway 153, in Hixson with Reverend Ronald Ragon and Reverend Jonathan Schwartz officiating.
