

Jack was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a 1949 graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Tennessee. Jack retired from Provident with over 36 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and played the trumpet with several different groups. Jack loved his family, friends and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret Bannister, and sister, Bobbie Surrett.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Privette Bannister; children, Devonia Siever, and Jack Bannister; grandchildren, Eric Bannister, Jason Michael (Lauren) Eslinger, and Melissa Brown; seven wonderful great grandchildren; special friend, Aaron Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 2, and 1 to 3 pm on Tuesday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will follow at 3 pm on Tuesday at the North Chapel with his Pastor Evelyn B. Harris officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Jack’s name to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3210 Social Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37415 or Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN.
