

Jack L. Watson of Signal Mountain, TN, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Born June 5, 1918, in Charlotte, NC, he graduated from Duke University and proudly served as a Naval submarine lieutenant commander during World War II. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jane Whalin Watson, with whom he took great pleasure in their family and friends. They were long time members of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder, and after a career in real estate appraisal, he pursued interests in gardening and woodworking. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his enduring humor. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Oakes and son in law Tuffy Oakes of Hixson, his son Fred Watson and daughter in law Geda Watson of Signal Mountain, grandsons Andy, Will, and Lucas Oakes, and granddaughter Sara Watson. Other family include his late brother John Watson and sister in law Libba Watson of Southern Pines, NC, sister in law Ruth Cook of Greensboro, NC, Jordan Dulin and the late Frances Dulin of Charlotte, NC, nieces, nephews.
Memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, Marr Chapel with Dr. William E. Dudley and Reverend Margaret Ferguson officiating, with a family visitation to follow.
Interment will be private for the family at Chattanooga National Cemetery
