Dorothy Jeanette Williams (neé Jordan) passed away peacefully in the early evening of Monday, January 21, surrounded by local family. She was 84 years old. Jeanette received a B. A. in Music from Samford University in 1955, and served more than 30 years as a teacher in the Hamilton County and Chattanooga school systems, much of it at East Chattanooga Elementary School and later Calvin Donaldson Elementary School. She received awards from the county for her teaching and commitment to education. She retired in 1987. Jeanette also served for more than 20 years as the choir director at East Chattanooga United Methodist Church where she and her husband, L. C. “Huck” Williams, worked with the youth group for years. Jeanette later taught Sunday school at Meadowview Baptist in Ooltewah, where she lived. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife and mother, an amazing hostess, and a kind, good-natured lady, whose work influenced countless children and young people for good. She had a wonderful voice, and she was a talented musician; her favorite instrument was the flute. Her husband Huck passed away in 2000. She is survived by her two sons, Norman Edward “Eddy” Williams and his wife Gale Williams, and Mark A. E. Williams and his wife Jutta Escher. She has four grandchildren, Kayla, Perry, Dante, and Vera, and one great-grandchild, Chloe. The family will receive visitors at Chattanooga Funeral Home between 4 o’clock to 8 o’clock Friday evening. The interment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens at 2 o’clock on Saturday, followed by a celebration of life at 4 o’clock at Meadowview Baptist Church, 10715 Ooltewah Georgetown Rd, Georgetown, TN 37336 .
