

Jim was born to Nathaniel and Lucille Snow on April 3rd, 1920, in the coal mining community of Searles, Alabama. When he was 10, the family moved to Whitwell, Tennessee, where he lived until moving to Chattanooga as a young man.
After many years at the Chattanooga Armature Works and Jones-Sylar Supply, in 1963 Jim founded T.J. Snow Company, which continues today.
As a specialist in resistance welding machinery and supplies, Jim traveled the entire southeast prior to the days of air conditioned cars, interstate highways and chain motels.
In 2003, the Resistance Welder Manufacturers Association (RWMA) honored Jim with its Elihu Thompson Award to recognize his contributions to the industry.
Always the consummate salesman, Jim was known for his positive outlook and pleasant personality, a trait which continued through his retirement years.
The family wishes to thank the numerous friends and caregivers who made it possible for him to continue living at home until one day before his death.
Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Sara Fay Snow; his second wife , Kathryn Snow; his sister, Frances Nelms and his step mother, Genny Snow.
Jim is survived by three children, Tom (Susan) Snow, Teresa Snow, and Nancy (Gary) Evitt. His grandchildren are Tara Evitt, Josh (Tiffany) Evitt, Ashlee (Matthew) Chandler, Sam (Lisa) Snow, Andrew Snow, Elizabeth (Marc) Caldwell, and Caroline Snow. He also had four great grandchildren.
Jim’s memberships included First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Chattanooga Yacht Club. He was also a longtime Shriner.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 P.M. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Mullinax and Rev. Render Caines officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the "Saturday Morning Breakfast Club". Private interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. and on Sunday from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Siskin Children's Institute, 1101 Carter Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37402, or to the Shriner's Hospital 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40502. Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel, Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee 37343.
