Jimmy was born in Soddy, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of Sale Creek. He was a 1954 graduate of Sale Creek High School, where he played Baseball and Basketball. Jimmy held the highest batting average in baseball for many years. Jimmy worked with CMI in Bakewell for several years. He retired from Hamilton County Maintenance Department with over 25 years of service as an electrician. Jimmy was a longtime member and leader at Sale Creek Church of God, taught Sunday school for many years and was the past President of the Sunshine Senior Group. He was an avid Deer Hunter.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Scott Gill; children, Jimmy (Janet) Gill and Michelle (Glenn) Didier; grandchildren, Natalie Gill and Olivia (Gary) Bates, Justin and Amber Didier.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, August 6, and 12 (noon) to 1 pm on Monday, at Sale Creek Church of God, 14919 Dayton Pike, Sale Creek, TN 37373.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will follow at 1 pm on Monday at Sale Creek Church of God with Reverend Connie Goins officiating. Burial will follow in Welsh-Rogers Cemetery in Sale Creek.
