

Jack was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 28, 1936. He was a graduate of Leon High School in 1955 where he played varsity football and baseball, was inducted into the Leon High School Hall of Fame, and was also May King. Jack was a 1959 graduate of Florida State University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta.
He was an executive in the trucking industry throughout his professional career, having been employed by Ryder Truck Rental and Lesco Inc. He was president of Tennessee Car and Truck Rental Association, an active member of Tennessee Trucking Association, president of S.T.S., a non-profit company that transports handicapped persons, and was a member of the Chatt Area Safety Council.
Jack was an active member of Signal Crest Methodist Church where he held numerous offices over forty years and had been a Sunday school teacher. He was also the Religious Coordinator at Alexian Village where he resided. Jack also served on the board of Habitat for Humanity for many years.
Survivors include his children his children, Mary Evelyn Montgomery, N.Y. City and Rudd Montgomery and his wife Rebekah of Signal Mountain, his cherished grandchildren, William Tyler and Louisa Rose Montgomery, brothers, Bobby (Tutter) Montgomery and Mike Montgomery. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 2:00 pm at Signal Crest United Methodist Church 1005 Ridgeway Lane with Rev. Beth Sullivan and Rev. Barry Kidwell. Visitation will follow in the Crest Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1201 E. Main St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37408, Signal Crest United Methodist Church or the Resident’s Scholarship Fund, 437 Alexian Way, Signal Mountain, Tennessee 37377
