Our grandmother called him Jody. To those of us who followed him around like a puppy-the only boy for many years in an extended family of girls-he was Little Joe, long before tv gave us Bonanza. Christmas-he got the cap pistol and electric train I wanted; Halloween-he led the pack to the houses with the best candy; Easter- he led us away from boring times spent “visiting” relatives in Alabama, once running from a cow as we sat on a fence, watching in awe. We had little contact as adults; i’m Sorry for that. But I remember summer nights catching fireflies and Junebugs, climbing trees; riding to the lake in the open Jeep..but most of all I remember the golden boy of Lupton Drive, God lead you to Himself, sweet cousin o’ mine! Joe and I graduated Red Bank High in the same class in 1961.
I have updated our class website to include this sad event.
