She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1964 with a BS degree in Mathematics and leveraged that into a long career in Information Technology, eventually retiring from TVA in 2001.
Judy was an AVID reader who was very active with the Signal Mountain Library, serving on its Board. Post retirement, Judy was able to focus on quilting, which was one of her favorite creative pastimes. She was also able to reach her retirement goal of traveling to all 7 continents, at least once, with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Suzie Akins, and Nancy Delaney.
Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Guy M. Beaty lll; her 2 sons, Guy M. “Tad” Beaty IV (Annelies), and John M. Beaty (Susan Balenger); 2 grandchildren, Guy M. Beaty V and Ethan G Beaty; and her brother, Bob Mason (Dee).
A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Rev. Kim Mason officiating. Prior to the service the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
