Katheryne was born in Whitwell, attended Whitwell High School and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Howard Melton; parents, Jesse and Lovia Slatton Caldwell.
Katheryne is survived by her four children, Sidney Melton and wife Jeanie, Connie E. Melton and fiancée Ray Neighbors, Brenda Kay Kessler and Sandford Ray Melton and wife Sarah; two grandchildren, Shana Meyer and Nicholas Melton; great granddaughter, Angel Meyer; sister, Sylvia Summerlin and husband Wayne; two nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday and 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday at the North Chapel.
Services for Katheryne will be held at 1 PM on Saturday at the North Chapel. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
