Lillian May Hess Hawes, age 85, of Hixson, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in a local health care facility. She was born July 25, 1927 in Norwalk, Connecticut to the late Dorothy Amy and Jacob August Hess.
Mrs. Hawes was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. She was a former manager for Domestics at Hills Department Store for 10 years.
Her husband G. W. Hawes, Sr. and sister, Helen preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, G. W. (Colleen) Hawes, Jr. of Soddy Daisy; Carol (Leonard, Sr.) LaForest of Hixson; Jacob Hawes of Hixson; Jeffrey (Cathy) Hawes of Hixson; and Dawn (Rick) Smith of Soddy Daisy; 7 siblings, Barbara, William, Emily, Tom, Alfred, Sandra, and Faith; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday December 2, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Mark Bigley officiating. Inurnment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
