Daughter of Fred and Stella Wilson Groves, Lois June was born on May 14, 1936, in their farm home in Union County, Wolf Lake, Illinois. She was 85 years old and had been married to her husband Ed for almost 64 years. Lois and Ed were married on December 20, 1957 in the Salt Lake City temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Joining the church as a teenager, Lois was a stalwart member of the Lord’s kingdom. She served in many capacities including Matron of the Washington DC Temple, missionary companion with Ed as he served as the Munich Germany Mission President, and in many support and leadership callings over the past seven decades. Most importantly, Lois cherished her role as Ed’s wife, mother to her four children, and as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois is survived by her sister Joanne Ondrak (Lee); her children Peter Scholz (Laura), Paris Goodnight (Chuck), Mary Hanks (Jonathan) and Daniel Scholz (Tiffany); grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois and Ed had 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren whom she knew and loved. While we mourn the loss of our dear “Oma” we know there is a great reunion in the Heavens, for surely Lois was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father, our Savior and her family, saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
