Mike was born on January 1, 1957 in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. He has been employed with Seafarers International Union for over 25 years where he was a Merchant Seaman. Mike was also a member of the ACLU and was awarded the United States Merchant Marine Medal of Honor for service in the Persian Gulf War.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Joy Emmett Duggan; brother, Keith Duggan and sister, Madra Duggan.
Mike is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Lucy” Duggan; son, Phillip Michael Duggan, both of Harrison; father, Jack Duggan of Dalton, GA; sisters, Delinda Duggan of Knoxville and Lisha Duggan Wright of Dalton, GA; niece, Mary Arden Wright and nephew, Henderson Wright both of Dalton, GA and niece, Misty Simmons of Knoxville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm on Monday, December 8, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service for Mike will follow at 7 pm on Monday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Don Givens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, 6623 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
