Peggy was born in East Prairie, Missouri, on March 25, 1938. She attended Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau where she met and married her devoted husband M. LeRoy Cravens. Peggy received her BS degree in Elementary Education from Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. She taught elementary school for 28 years and 26 of those years she spent teaching in Hamilton County Schools.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, M. LeRoy Cravens; her parents, Eugene and Cora Barker; her brother, Gene Allen Barker all of East Prairie, Missouri.
Peggy is survived by her son, Lee Cravens; daughter, Susan Cravens Parker; grandchildren, Justin and Megan Parker all of Chattanooga; brothers, Kelly Barker and Jackie Barker both of East Prairie, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
There will be a private burial at I. O. O. F. cemetery in Charleston, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s name to the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403, or to Hospice of Chattanooga, P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
