Poncho Goodner

Billy R. “Poncho” Goodner, 76, of Hixson, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010.Poncho served his country in the Army. He was retired from DuPont and Goodner and Company. Poncho was preceded in death by his parents, Alden and Mildred Goodner; and a brother, James Goodner.He is survived by his wife, Janet Keyser Goodner; siblings, Boyd (Judy) Goodner and Jean Goodner; children, Cathy (Chuck) Daniels, Natalie Goodner and Candy (Joe) Magouirk; grandchildren, Shaun (Erin) Daniels, Joshua and Kristin Francisco, Jason (Leslie) Lusk, Jermy (Laurie) Lusk; 10 great grandchildren and mother-in-law, Lottie Mae Keyser and family. He also leaves behind many good friends and all of his Legion domino buddies. Poncho leaves so many special moments keeping his memory alive in our hearts. All of our group hugs and his special cooked meals will bring sunshine to us on a cloudy day. His mischievous smile and love of life will be our inspiration. His strength was never in his muscles, it was in his heart filled with love for his home, his family and friends. He would say to us today, Be Happy, enjoy your life and the many blessings that God has given all of us. The love he gave was the life he lived. So go, our sweet Poncho celebrate your new life that God has prepared for you.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday and 12 to 1 PM on Wednesday at the North Chapel.Services for Poncho will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Rev. Nathan Malone officiating.Contributions may be made in Poncho’s name to Burks United Methodist Church, 6429 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
