
Randy, 64, died the evening of June 6 with his wife of 24 years, Cynthia Olive, at his side. Randy was born in St. Paul, Minn., in 1947 to Milan and Jeannette (Choiniere) Olive. He grew up in St. Peter’s parish in Richfield and graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy and the University of Minnesota. Randy had three children, Jolene, Frank and Gretchen, with his first wife, Sharon Kennedy. He had a long career in sales and marketing, and was an avid and excellent golfer. Randy found a deep satisfaction in reconnecting with the Catholic Church and supported Cynthia in her conversion to Catholicism at Sts. Peter and Paul Basilica in Chattanooga. Randy also taught confirmation classes at the Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette, and his sister, Suzette. Randy is survived by his spouse, Cynthia; father Milan (Dorothy); sister Jeanne and brother Peter (Karen). Randy’s three children and three grandchildren also survive him: daughter Jolene Romney (John) of Big Sky, Mont., and her three sons Michael, Maxwell and Miles; daughter Gretchen Olive of Minneapolis, Minn.; and son Frank Olive (Kristen) of Fairbanks, Alaska. The memorial service will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Basilica, 214 East 8th St., Chattanooga, Tenn., on Thursday, June 9, beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to The Interfaith Homeless Network of Greater Chattanooga, 1184 Baldwin St., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
