Shirley was a member of the Hixson First Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class. She was the president of the Golden Glows. Shirley retires as a x ray Tech.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Charles K. Carter Sr. and parents Alvin and Winona Suggs Clark.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Ken (Kendrah) Carter and Ron (Meme) Carter; grandson Noah Carter; brother Steve (Wanda) Clark; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, from 5 to 8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel and on Wednesday, from 12:30 pm until the time of service.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30pm on Wednesday, August 7, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joel Wood and Rev. Terry Shannon officiating.
Interment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
