Hard to believe that tomorrow 01/04/2012 you will have been gone from us a year.I am reminded of you everytime I see a UPS truck and I just smile remembering all the good times our group of friends used to have.  I am sorry that you had to leave so soon. I am however happy to know that you married and that you were able to find happiness. Lots of people loved you and Angela.  They say time heals your sadness,but it never takes away the hurt or the loss. You will always be missed.

My precious Angela... Almose a  year of calender days has passed... but time can't measure the pain.  Again, if I could change life for you I would. Seeet Angela... I just learned of this terrible and shocking tragedy that you are in the midst of. I remember several years back when you had told me that you had gotten married. You had the utmost admiration and love in describing your husband, Terry. I was soooo happy for you both.  Life is way too short and alot of the time very unfair in our eyes. Just KNOW that God will carry you through this horrific time and give you the strength and ultimatly the peace you need to get through this tragedy. It's hard to imagine, I'm sure, that things will somehow get better in time. Your friends are more than willing to help you because we love you and hate to see you hurting...so does God. Lean on Him. He will strengthen and sustain you and give you the courage to put one foot in front of the other day by day because He knows your grief and the burden you are bearing. When I first met Terry he was a young teenager about 14 years old as I recall. He was a tall, lanky young man, handsome enough to cause the girls to pause, but it never went to his head. For such a tall, trim guy, he was above average in manual dexterity, especially when it came to his yellow Yamaha motorcycle and his ability and skill was apparent to everyone that saw him ride, or play softball for that matter.

I had the privilege of being the coach of the church softball team that Terry and some other fine young men played on. I wish I could claim as a coach that I coached them to a level no one expected, but I know that's not true â€“ they carried me.

Terry had a way about him that could neutralize the impact of undesirable situations. Sometimes it was just a smile, or something he'd do, or a humorous remark that just seemed to come out of nowhere, and it was useless to try focus on troubles after that.

He was one of the most down to earth young men I've met. He was the first to cheer when others achieved something. Terry had some kind of inner confidence and optimism that was simply contagious. When Terry arrived on the scene, it was like things were about to be better.

Terry was forgiving. I remember when I was doing things to motorcycles and Terry asked me to forward mount his shocks on his Yamaha. I told him that the muffler would have to be modified a bit because it would interfere with the shocks. We agreed it would work, so I started to work. I had the muffler/tail pipe off and made the needed modification â€“ I modified the wrong side â€“ the outside instead of the inside â€“ it all kinda looked the same off the bike. I felt awful and dreaded having to face Terry. When Terry saw it, he simply said, â€œThat's ok.â€ And what was different about Terry saying that was he meant it. I think he had a firm grip of the â€˜bigger picture' of life and didn't let the little things upset him. And while it really was just a cosmetic thing, I still felt bad, but not Terry. I never heard a negative remark from him about it.

As it goes so many times, as Terry got older we lost contact with each other, but I'd see things that reminded me of something Terry did or said. Then one day a driver of a big ol' UPS truck yelled at me â€“ it was Terry! I hadn't seen him in years. He'd changed some physically, still handsome as ever, but that same winning charm and glow was still evident. I was so glad to see him I could have hugged him; now I know I should have.

I never heard or saw Terry again after that. I didn't learn of his tragic death for days afterwards. I find myself wishing I would have had another chance to see him and talk to him. Old habits are hard to break; I wonder how long I'll look at UPS trucks wondering if it's Terry only to realizeâ€¦.

My prayers and condolences to Wilma and all of Terry's loved ones. To say he will be missed by many is an understatement.

My deepest sympathy to the Hampton family. I first met Terry at my oldest sons 21st birthday party.  At that time I didn't know just how important he would be in our lives.  He was always there for Al no matter the situation. They worked together at the John Hicks dealership in the parts department until they closed. Al and Terry had many happy times together on their jet skis, bicycles, motorcycles and just hanging out. Terry always knew just what to say. His smile would cheer you up. He was wise beyond his years. He always said "yes maam" to me. He was such a gentleman.  I am so glad we were able to have Terry as a friend. His friendship, love and thoughtfulness will be missed by all of us. God must have a special job in heaven for Terry to take him at such a young age. He is looking down with the other angels and watching over his friends and family. He will always be with us in our memories. These memories will give you comfort. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I understand that today 01/08/11 there was standing room only.  Terry knew how to draw a crowd and he was so loved by everyone.  We have all lost a great guy. I met Terry at DW's and many the time I was stranded by the road side and Terry would go out of his way if need be to give me a ride home. He would not let me out at his turn off, he would not hear of it, he would take me to the gate at Sale Creek and just as feverently he would not take a penny. Two years ago I got a house of my own in Dayton and if I saw him around town once I saw him a hundred times and each time he would ask me "How you liking your house" and I would say I love it. HAMP I  just want to say that we knew each other for over 20 years. You loved to camp,jet ski,snow ski,and just hang out with your friends. I have always known about that infectious smile , I have lots of pictures to show that. You always saw the positive in everything. You were patient ,laid back and the best friend anyone could have. Angie,words cannot express the sadness everyone in Dayton is feeling since we heard of Terrys untimely death. Much like yours, his smile could light up a room. How wonderful it would be if everyone could leave a legacy like  
Terry has. I think i can speak for everyone when i say there is an empty space in our hearts now. Ray and I both pray that God will give you peace and understanding in the days ahead..

In hope of exposing just a bit more of Terry's character to all his friends and family I would like to share my experience with him. I work for FedEx Express and cover alot of the area in his route.  While we may have worked for competing companies, Never once did he treat me as an enemy.  We shared many pokes at each other in jest and shared knowledge about our area.  I cannot think of a single time in the 1 1/2 years I have been in Dayton that Terry didn't have a smile or a possitive thought he would share.
Even in his death, he has once again managed to pass on a helpful hand by bringing about the awareness of how short our lives can be. Because of him I am now paying more attention to the finer details of my own life.  To his family, Thank you for sharing a bit of him with me each day. My day won't be the same without running into him several times throughout the route.

Angela, We want you to know that Terry was just not our UPS delivery person we felt like he was a friend. He has delivered to us for years.  He always had a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips.  He could turn a rather dull day into a more positive one with his infectious smile.  Several years ago we took in a stray dog who goes to work with us everyday, Terry was the only delivery driver she never barked at.  He made instant friends with her and always asked about her when she was not at work.  He was a special person and will be greatly missed by all of the people he came in contact with. My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family. I met Terry, what seems like, eons ago while dating a mutual friend. Terry was quite a jokester, always had a smile on his face, and was the most laid back person I've ever met. The last time I saw him was years ago, while I was attending Wine over Water. He and his wife were walking the bridge, holding hands, talking, laughing, and looking so much in love. I didn't want to intrude by interrupting. So, Angela, I've never met you, but know that you, your family, and Terry's family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  Terry even called me after my recent surgery to see how I was doing - he truly cared about people. I always considered Terry a good friend, and want his family to know that he touched the lives of so many people that you would never have thought he would have. And not just because of his job, but because of his soft spoken, kind hearted nature that will truly be missed by all of us here who knew him......even my little assistant.
