

He graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1971 and started his work career at Simco Leather Company as s shipping/receiving clerk. After several years he joined the work crew at Signal Knitting Mills. Nick was employed at Roper Corporation until he decided that he was ready to move on and became an associate at Walmart working in the Sporting Goods department until he retired. This introduced Nick to a lot of people and he became well known and liked by the customers because of his knowledge in hunting and fishing along with his gift to talk. His favorite activities were eating and talking. He loved being in the woods hunting or walking and talking with his best friend Chris Dent, this is where he enjoyed life. Being with friends and family was important to him.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Lovell Road where he was baptized.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Mildred Stephens.
He is survived by his sisters, Denise Dodd and Robin Wilson (Robert Williams), nieces, Lori Dodd, Stacy Karas (Dustin Karas), Paula Uren (Chad Uren), Leslie McDade (Michael McDade), Brittany Higdon, Alexis and Hayden McDade, Grayson Bailey and Gabby Morrison.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm "Noon" until 2:30 pm on Tuesday, January 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Nick's life will follow at 2:30 pm on Tuesday at the North Chapel with Pastor Don Kelley officiating.
The committal service will take place following at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
