Wayne Miller, 71, of Hixson, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2026. Born in East Ridge, Tennessee, on June 19, 1954, Wayne was the devoted, hard-working, loyal, and kind-hearted son of the late Carl and Ruth Miller, and one of three siblings. From the beginning, he loved the outdoors and could often be found outside, happiest when he was playing baseball or simply soaking in the day.
In his twenties, Wayne joined the operating engineers union, bringing with him the steady work ethic and quiet determination that defined so much of his life. Around 1995, he put that same drive into building his own small business, Miller Lawn Service—work he approached with pride, consistency, and the kind of reliability people came to count on.
On July 15, 1972, Wayne married Sharon Scealf, and together they raised two wonderful sons. Wayne treasured his family before everything else. As a family, they loved being outdoors—fishing, camping, and spending time together in the places that felt most like home to them. Wayne also led both of his sons in Boy Scouts as their Den Leader, and through Scouting they shared many different trips and memories that stayed close to his heart. The most meaningful thing in both Wayne and Sharon’s life were their boys, Nick and Casey, and grandson, Braxton.
Wayne was the true definition of a family man. He also enjoyed watching the Falcons and Braves play, and he especially loved going trout fishing—simple moments that brought him peace and joy, and that those closest to him will remember with tenderness.
Wayne and Sharon were members of Mountain Creek Church of Christ. Wayne was deeply grateful for his church family and for the impacting role they played in his walk with Christ, a faith that guided him and gave him strength.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the CCU staff at Erlanger Hospital for their kindness and care.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Alvin and Sarah Ruth Miller; sister, Karen Sperling; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Scealf.
Here to continue his legacy are his wife of 54 years, Sharon Miller; sons, Nicholas Miller and Casey (Teresa) Miller; grandson, Braxton Miller; step-grandchildren, Ethan Seymore and Katelyn Seymore; sister, Beverly (David) Pack; and special nephew, Shane Scealf.
