

Bill was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He served our country during the Korean War in the U. S. Air Force from 1947 to 1953 in the Azores/Greenland. Bill retired from AT&T after 38 years. He was a Charter Member, Charter Governing Board Member & Elder of North River Alliance (C&MA). Served with Gideon’s International and taught Sunday School off and on for most of his adult life.
His family is so very grateful to God for a husband and father who truly lived life in a way that honored his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bill loved his wife and children second only to his Savior. He is truly our, “Best Man”.
He was preceded in death by father, Charles F. Epperson; mother, Etta Belle Boruff Epperson; siblings, Mabel Richesin, Beulah Baskett & Thelma Thomas, Charles, Elmer, & Howard Epperson.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Patricia Mathews Epperson; daughter, Teresa Wallace (Larry) of Chattanooga, and three sons: Jeff (Miriam) of Chattanooga; Larry (Janet) of McDonough, GA; Mark (Lucia) of Elkins, WV; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, Nov. 8, and from 12 (noon) to 1 pm on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 1 pm on Monday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in National Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest sense of value and gratitude to in home caregivers Mark Forgey, Jesse Taylor, & Steve Bates. Words cannot express our appreciation to these men who have served our father and mother in such a selfless and loving way over the past several years
