William "Bill" Edwin Barber

William "Bill" Edwin Barber, a beloved, devoted, and faithful man, went to his Heavenly home on December 3, 2025, at the age of 93. Born to the late Dale and Lillian Barber on June 25, 1932, in Jackson, Michigan, Bill was the oldest of three brothers and was raised in Clair, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Tech.

Bill served two years in the Army Corps of Engineers, being honorably discharged as a Lieutenant, and later retired from the National Guard as a Captain. He worked as a Chemical Engineer for E.I. DuPont for 35 years, where he was known for his hard-work ethic and being highly respected by his co-workers.

In 1951, Bill married Marie Barber, with whom he raised three children. Together, they traveled all over Europe and spent summers with family in Louisiana. Bill was known for his kind-hearted and humorous spirit.

An avid craftsman and woodworker, Bill loved to build furniture and was particularly known for making masonic gavels. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him great joy.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Marie Barber and daughter, Debbie Casten.

Loved by all, Bill is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Sjoberg of Athens, Tennessee; his son, Jim (Claudeen) Barber of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; grandchildren, Christina Marie (Trey Ivins) Sjoberg, Adrian Casten, and Clint Barber; and brother, Bob Barber.

A visitation will be held on December 6, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, located at 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.

The funeral service will follow on the same day at 12:00 pm at the same location.

A committal will take place at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343, also on December 6, 2025.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
