Agapito was born to Cisto and Lenior Belmarez, May 24th, 1934, in Cameron, Texas. He married Andrea in 1956, and they lived together in Houston, Texas for 63 years. Together they raised 6 children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Andrea Belmarez; his sister, Francis Ortega; his children, Agapito Belmarez Jr. (Mollie), Margarita Duron, Joe Belmarez (Wanda) and Andrew Belmarez (Deborah); 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cisto and Lenior Belmarez; his son, Paul Belmarez; his infant daughter, Andrea Belmarez; his brothers, Domingo Belmarez and John Belmarez; and his grandson, Fernando Flores.
Agapito served in the United States Air Force from 1952 - 1960. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal for his service in Germany. When he returned, he worked as a master craftsman. He was the biggest hometown sports fan and loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, was an excellent baker, and was a casino aficionado.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 5pm-9pm on Monday, November 25th with a Rosary service at 7pm. The service will be the following day, Tuesday, November 26th at St. Luke at 1pm with a committal service to follow at South Park Cemetery.
