A Life Well Lived
Born in Brenham, Texas to Emma Schroeder and Albert Fred Sommerfield, Sr., Albert Fred Sommerfield, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on October 4, 2025.
Albert lived a long and wonderful life, which he shared with his beloved wife of 56 years, Patsy Dove. Together, they were blessed with three children: Glenn Albert, Jan Elaine, and Terri Lynn. Albert and Patsy raised their family in the Lutheran Church to be loving and faithful servants of God.
A man of few words, Albert taught by example—to work hard, serve others, show compassion, act with honesty, love deeply, forgive freely, and remain steadfast in faith.

A Life of Purpose
Albert graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas, in 1947. During his high school years, he took immense pride in delivering the Houston Chronicle and often fondly recalled those memories.
In 1950, he began his career with Southwestern Bell (now AT&T), where he faithfully served for 42 years before retiring in 1992. More than just a job, Albert took great pride in all he accomplished during his career.
Albert had a lifelong love for the outdoors. He took extraordinary joy in tending to his vegetable garden and nurturing the flowers that surrounded his home. Whether he was working in his gardens, piddling in his shed, or repairing something around the house, Albert’s hands were rarely still. He found peace and purpose in being outside—growing, building, and fixing things with care and patience.

A Man of Faith
Albert served for many years as an elder at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, and in later years attended Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, also in Houston.
In his later years, as his health and mobility declined, Albert could often be found with his hands folded in prayer or reading his Jesus Calling devotional. He bore faithful witness to his deep love for God and expressed his desire for all to know and love the Lord and one another.
