Alicia G. Gutierrez joined her parents Simon and Guadalupe Gutierrez in heaven on February 27, 2026. She was their youngest daughter who grew up in Houston’s Magnolia Park, retired on the family ranch outside of Uvalde, Texas, and returned to East Houston in 2021. She is preceded in death by parents, bothers Juan, Simon Jr, Jose, and sisters Herminia and Lorenza. Her sister Guadalupe is 93 and lives in Houston as do many nieces and nephews.
Alicia graduated from Milby High School and then attended Houston Business College. She honed a career as a payroll professional at First City Bank and the Houston Blood Center. She first retired from work to help her sisters provide care for their mother. She returned to the workforce as a teacher aide for HISD’s Jackson Middle School.
She remained single, living a fulfilled life with family. Family was always a priority in her life whether it involved her siblings, nieces, or nephews. “Aunt Alice” loved everyone and showed it by hosting Sunday dinners at the Gutierrez home. This meant her sister Herminia enjoyed a break from cooking, and she poured her love into making food for all!
Alicia, her sisters Guadalupe and Herminia, joined their brother Jose to relocate from Houston to Uvalde County at “Silver Creek Ranch.” They built a modest home at the center of acreage where she gardened, fed feral cats, and took long walks. In her later years she succumbed to the onset of Alzheimer’s. The moments of family happiness showed up randomly and brought tearful joy to family. She died peacefully at home.
