Arturo De Los Angeles

Arturo was born on May 26, 1943, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico and is preceded in death by his loving mother, Guadalupe De Los Angeles. He was the second of eleven children, two of whom preceded him in death, Manuel and Jesusa.

Arturo married the love of his life, Juana Sanchez, on September 16, 1965, and five children were born to bring joy to their lives. Arturo immigrated to the United States, making first Brownsville, then Houston his home. He was a welder by trade, and he was a natural craftsman. Arturo was blessed with a passion for the arts; he loved to read literature, loved music, poetry, and the visual arts, which he passed on to his children. Arturo was a living example of the Christian principle, “Love thy Neighbor.” If he could help anyone in any way, he would do so gladly. He shared his faith and positive outlook each and every day with everyone and anyone. His life long lessons, advice, and humor will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Arturo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juana De Los Angeles; his sons Arturo Jr., Jose, Edward, Oscar, and daughter Esperanza Briones; and grandchildren Joe Briones III, Michael and Celeste Briones; Alejandro, Richard, and Marcus De Los Angeles; Edward Jr., and Sebastian De Los Angeles. He is also survived by his brothers Carlos De Los Angeles, Dionisio, David and Ruben; and sisters Lourdes Torres, Felicitas Perez, Carmen, and Consuelo (Conchita).

A celebration of Arturo’s life will take place Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A prayer service will occur Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A visitation will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Parish Office, 2405 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Parish Office, 2405 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
