

Aubrey Louis Carter was born July 31, 1922 near Waco, TX. He was the first of three sons born to Lewis D. and Ruby L. Carter. In 1949 after a short courtship, Aubrey married Norma Joan Carey who was an RN. They had 2 sons, Dennis Dean Carter and Jan Thad Carter. Aubrey was Chief Engineer at the Washburn Tunnel for many years and then worked in the traffic division of Harris County until he retired. Aubrey and Norma were married for 44 years before her death. Several years after he was widowed, Aubrey was fortunate enough to marry yet another RN, Nancy Emalene Pond. They had a wonderful life together until she passed away in 2010. Aubrey embraced life, and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed food was known for his barbeque brisket and his love of ice cream. He did not have easy start in life because an injury at birth that stayed with him all his life, but it did not hold him back. He worked hard and overcame a lot of obstacles to earn his success. He was never stopped by what others viewed as limitations. Aubrey is survived by his brother Doyle “Bobby” and wife Peggy, his brother Jimmy and wife Jere’, his son Dennis and wife, Pene and children, Chelsea and Grayson, son Thad and wife, Gaynell and their sons their Gabriel, wife Jenefer and sons Aubrey and Julian, Alex and wife Olivia and daughter & son-in-law Nancy and Jim McWaters as well as many other family members. Aubrey recently became ill and lost his battle on August 22, 2012. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Boulevard. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, followed by a memorial service honoring Aubrey’s life at 1:00 pm at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 4300 North Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX 77018.
